The Glowpoint Network

Glowpoint is recognized as having one of the world's largest and most advanced IP-based networks dedicated to video communications. Creating anytime, anywhere video solutions, Glowpoint extends face-to-face communications outside of traditional conference rooms to the desktop, mobile, and consumer markets. The Glowpoint network allows you to connect to virtually anyone, anywhere, at anytime - across the country and around the world - no matter if you are in the office, on the road or in your home.

Glowpoint leverages a unique network architecture that spans four continents, consisting of state-of-the-art equipment across the country - and around the globe - in Canada, Europe, Australia, and Asia. The Multi-protocol Label Switches (MPLS) backbone network, which connects all of Glowpoint's Points of Presence (POPs), virtually eliminates the risk of a single point of failure and significantly mitigates the risk of outages.

The Glowpoint 99.99 percent Quality of Service (QoS) commitment has been a critical point of differentiation in its solutions for the enterprise and broadcast markets, whose use of real-time, two-way video is mission critical. All SLAs have been met or exceeded since the launch of the network in 2000. The Glowpoint network hosts patent-pending IP-video services within its core so that customers and other network providers have "plug and play" access anytime, anywhere, regardless of protocol or communications device. Since 2004, Glowpoint has been the first and only dedicated IP-video network that has been designated "Cisco Powered."

Glowpoint Network Reach

The Glowpoint network includes 15 Points of Presence (POPs) across the United States, Europe, Canada, and Australia and provides a 99.99 percent Quality of Service commitment for all customer traffic that is transported on the Glowpoint backbone. All service levels have been met or exceeded since the launch of the network. The Glowpoint Network has carried more then 23 million IP video minutes, with an average of more than 20,000 video calls per month - worldwide - since 2000.

The Glowpoint Network backbone is designed to support any bandwidth required by the customer, with the only limitation being the video equipment's capabilities. Typically, users find Glowpoint's 384Kbps - 512Kbps video calling speeds meet their needs. Actual limits are determined by the service plan options purchased.

The Glowpoint Network can reach a majority of video conferencing locations at a reasonable cost. And statistics show that Glowpoint customers tend to use video more than twice the industry average of alternative network solutions.

Network Backbone and Access

The Glowpoint IP network is Glowpoint controlled and privately owned. Through strategic relationships, the network is comprised of various dedicated and peered IP network providers who use private (long and short-haul) transport between POPs (Points of Presence). Glowpoint also has agreements with multiple last-mile carriers to provide low-cost SDSL and T1 access to customer locations from each POP.

Advanced Management Tools

Glowpoint was the first video communications company to develop and apply patent-pending, real-time call detail and account management tools to the IP video communications industry - unavailable from anyone else and still unduplicated today.
